Big Charming- A Modern Quilt

Big Charming is a modern quilt designed by Denyse Schmidt and made by Joni from Quilter's Haven.  

She really liked the concentric circle design I did on a previous quilt, and we decided it would look stunning on this this quilt as well.

I love the simplicity of this quilt both in piecing and quilting.

Because this quilt was so large, I had to think 'out of the box' to find a quick and easy way to mark it.

It's funny how inspirational things around the house can be. I went from room to room looking for something to help me mark this quilt, and the garage door-of all places-is where I found my answer. 

My garage door is attached to these metal strips (pictured below) that just happen to have equally-spaced holes. I took a trip to The Home Depot, and a few bucks later I was on my way to having this big guy marked.

It was a bit of a workout on my legs, but otherwise it was super quick and easy. (And you get to see my little helper cheering me on in the video below.)

I came to the end corner and decided to mix the design up a little with a couple of rows of squares to mimic the solid color pieced squares of the quilt.

Of course, I had to spray the quilt with quite a bit of water to get all the markings out, but doesn't 'Big Charming' look so handsome and ready to cuddle up with?!
